The holidays are are always a special time of the year for family. We love the aroma of the foods, the decorating and lots of football! I'm not so sure that I can say the same for the weather. It's been really COLD and a good bit of snow. We missed the Indiana Beef Congress due to the weather and other commitments but congrats to all the kids.

We went to the NAILE in Louisville and took in some of the cattle shows and exhibits. The Braunveih were limited but we had a good time.

The Braunvieh Association has announced that as of Jan 1 /06 that they will now be using AI Certificate program and purchasers of semen will be charged for that service. We will be charging only the $10 fee to any of our customers wanting certificates!
Our granddaughter Kelley will be graduating this next May and had her senior pictures taken at our farm. This will be her last year to show at the fair.

Nina's beautiful flowers are in full bloom, fair time and visits from the kids.
Man, could we use some rain ! The pastures and hay are taking a
beating.
We went to western Illinois and visited with Lonnie Garrison and ended up
purchasing some Black & Red Angus cows. I thought it was dry at home - Their
burnt to a crisp!! The hay, pastures, corn, everything all in ruin!
The 37th Beef Empire Steer Trial in Garden City, Kan. was swept by Matt Alexander's Braunvieh-Angus steers winning 1st, 2nd & 7th. His grand champion steer had a rate of gain of 5.36 lb./ day for 116 days and a final weight of 1425 lbs. The steer's carcass weighed 910 lb., had a 14.28 sq in. ribeye, 0.33 inch fat, a yield grade of 2.7 and quality grade low choice. Congrats to Matt!

We went to Oklahoma and stayed a few days with Abby & Joan Thorne, looked at some cattle and brought a few home. These are great people and cattle!! Took in a Jr. cattle show while we were there.
